The plastic casing is the real win here—filings stay contained while still moving perfectly when a magnet passes underneath. My students can see the field lines clearly without any cleanup, which makes it a solid pick for a classroom or home setup.

I needed something mess-free for my son's science project, and this plastic-encased design is perfect. The filings move beautifully with a magnet and stay completely contained.

My third graders were completely focused watching the iron filings jump into patterns when we held a magnet near the sealed plastic case. It’s so much cleaner than loose filings since nothing can spill.
