My kids actually use this as their go-to hangout spot now, the bench is wide enough for two of them to sit and flip through a book together. I love that the shelves keep their favorites displayed so they can grab one without making a mess.

Our toddler actually sits still now, flipping through books on the bottom shelf while her older friend uses the top. The two shelves are deep enough to hold those chunky board books without them tipping over. It's become the go-to quiet spot for their little conversations.

The two-shelf bookcase is deep enough for picture books, though I wish the shelves were a bit taller for larger hardcovers. Kids can see everything easily and it does make a nice little quiet spot for conversations.
