The longer, more detailed plots keep my kid guessing what happens next, and the playful language actually makes her laugh out loud while she reads. She's tackled two books in one sitting, which is a huge win for building stamina at this grade level.

These stories are just the right length for my third grader—long enough to build stamina but not so long she loses interest. The playful language in the pirate adventure really held her attention. She actually asked to read the next one.

My son reads at a solid second-grade level, and these stories are long enough to keep him engaged without being overwhelming. The playful language in a few of the books makes him laugh out loud. I just wish the set included one or two non-fiction titles for variety.
